Rich Result
An enhanced search result with extra visual elements — ratings, images, prices, FAQ accordions, breadcrumbs — typically triggered by structured-data markup on the source page.
Rich results (formerly "rich snippets") are search results enhanced with structured information rendered from schema markup. An FAQ rich result shows expandable Q&A accordions; a Recipe rich result shows star ratings, cook time, calorie count; a Product rich result shows price and availability.
Which rich results matter for GEO?
FAQ, HowTo, Article, and Product are most relevant. FAQ rich results in particular tend to be lifted nearly verbatim into AI Overviews and Perplexity answers.
How do you earn rich results?
Implement the appropriate schema markup, validate it against Google's Rich Results Test, and ensure the content visibly matches the markup. Faked or inflated FAQ schema gets penalized.
Are rich results guaranteed if I add schema?
No — Google decides per-query whether to render them. Valid schema makes you eligible; ranking and content quality determine selection.
