Citation share is the AI-era equivalent of search-result rank tracking. Instead of asking "where do we rank for this keyword?" the question becomes "what fraction of answers about this topic cite us?"

How is citation share measured?

Run a panel of representative prompts on each AI engine, parse the cited sources from each answer, and compute (your_citations) / (total_citations) over the panel. Tools like Cite Hustle automate this.

What's a strong citation share?

Topic-dependent and engine-dependent. As a rough heuristic: above 15% citation share on Perplexity in your category puts you among the top sources cited; above 5% on ChatGPT means you've registered as a known authority.
