PerplexityBot
Perplexity's web crawler, which fetches public content for use in Perplexity's answer engine.
PerplexityBot is the user-agent Perplexity uses to fetch pages it cites in answers. Perplexity-User is a separate agent used for on-demand fetches initiated by user interaction.
Why does PerplexityBot access matter especially?
Perplexity's UI is citation-first — every answer is built around source attribution. Being indexable by PerplexityBot is the most direct path to visible citations.
How do you allow PerplexityBot?
User-agent: PerplexityBot followed by Allow: /. Also explicitly allow Perplexity-User for direct-fetch flows.
